Coffee at Midnight

Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King led a major civil rights movement with what he called “Soul Force.” What was at the heart of such a force, and how did it work? Is it something we take seriously today in our desire for social change? Rev. McArn will anticipate Dr. King’s 95th birthday and reflect on a spiritual transformation that happened to this young new pastor over a late–night cup of coffee in Montgomery, AL.

Jeffrey McArn served as College Chaplain for Hamilton College from 1996 to 2023, and continues as summer minister for a small church on Grindstone Island in the St. Lawrence River where he has been since 2005. Jeff has been named Senior Lecturer for Hamilton College, teaching a course in the Religious Studies Department entitled: American Freedom and Religious Thought. He serves on the boards of the Interfaith Coalition of Greater Utica, the Johnson Park Center in Utica, NY, and the National Abolition Hall of Fame & Museum in Peterboro, NY.
