Walk & Talk Tour Brings UU Utica’s Early History to Life in Downtown Utica

Utica, NY — August 28 Step back in time and explore the rich heritage of the Unitarian Universalist Church of Utica (UU Utica) during a special Walk & Talk Tour titled “Our Church – The Early Years in Downtown Utica.” This guided historical walking tour will take place on Sunday, September 14 (rain date Sept 21), at 1:00 PM.


Led by Jerry Reed, UU Utica’s Church Historian and Communications Chair, this one-mile walking tour will trace the congregation’s early history — from its founding at the Utica Court House and Academy in 1825 through the early 1900s. Along the way, Reed will share captivating stories and insights that illuminate UU Utica’s first century, set against the backdrop of a rapidly growing Utica during the trans-formative era of the Erie Canal.

This tour is the first event in the three month commemoration of UU Utica’s Bicentennial.


Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable walking shoes and prepare for an enriching afternoon of stories, history, and connection.
