A Jewish View of Unitarian Universalism

Unitarian Universalism offers a path toward spiritual growth that sounds very familiar to many liberal (i.e., non-Orthodox) Jews.  How compatible are the two traditions?  How are they similar?  In what significant ways are they different?

Rabbi Schaktman is spiritual leader of Temple Emanu-El In Utica. Prior to becoming a rabbi in 1989, he spent two years living in an Israeli Arab village as a community worker in Arab-Jewish relations as a participant in the Interns for Peace program.
